Los Angeles
Los Angeles is indeed one of the most diverse cities in the world. L.A is very rich in diversity and is known as a melting pot for culture. Immigrants make up a huge part of the population in Los Angeles, which makes L.A stronger as a whole. Since there is many different ethnicities that exist in Los Angeles, conflict between groups tends to occur. Many groups have stereotypes and misconceptions attached to their names. For example, minorities are often times seen as "ghetto" or uneducated, which is far from true. These stereotypes exist because Los Angeles is such a big city, causing many groups to rarely interact with each other to discover the true core of the group. Los Angeles provides many cultural public spaces to account for the needs of many groups that reside within l.A. For example, Olivera street is part of the El Pueblo de Los Angeles historical monument which was dedicated to Latinos. This is one of many cultural monuments dedicated to a certain group. Los Angeles is a very open minded city that accepts all types of people from many different countries around the world. Although racism is still present in Los Angeles today, certain groups have come together as one to preach equality and fight off the opposition. The most famous instance of different groups coming together as one was the Los Angeles riots of 1992 in result of the beating of Rodney King in 1991. Minorities from all different parts of Los Angeles came together as one to preach justice for Rodney King. Apart from race, Bloods and Crips came to a truce to come together as one to fight for justice. This was a very significant event in Los Angeles and was a stepping stone to show how powerful a city can become during times of distress. Although justice was never served, the love and equality demonstrated was inspirational and goes to show how great a city can become when it's puts everything aside and unites as one.
